Nursing Personnel HQ Bake-Off

September 16 2016

Who knew the Nursing Personnel HQ were full of hidden bakers, as the Great British Bake Off returned to our screens we wanted to get in on the fun and decided to create the ultimate office bake-off here at the Nursing Personnel London office.

Paul and Mary would be proud of our passionate team of bakers as they could easily pass off as contestants on the show. The team tasted and created some amazing sponges, medical themed biscuits, a giant eyeball cake and glittertastic cupcakes. Caswell from our North booking team blew away the judges with his creative cupcakes and won a hamper. Noura who works in the East Midlands booking team came second with her marvellous marble masterpiece and Veruchia our lovely clinical nurse interviewer won third place with her ‘blood oozing giant eyeball cake’

See below for some of Nursing Personnel’s showstopper bakes.

Blood Cancer Awareness Month

September 2 2016

Did you know that Blood cancer is the 3rd biggest cancer in the UK? Nursing Personnel want to help raise awareness. Blood cancer claims the lives of 14,000 people every year in the UK, claiming more lives than more well known cancers such as breast and prostate cancer.

So what is blood cancer?

Blood cancer is when something goes wrong with the development of blood cells. This means your blood cells stop doing normal things such as fighting off infections. There are over a 100 different types of blood cancer with three main groups’ leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Blood cancer isn’t limited to age either, anyone can get blood cancer at any point in their lives, but it is the most common type of cancer in young adults and children.

What are the symptoms and signs of blood cancer?

The symptoms of blood cancer are very common and can be often mistaken for colds or flu. It is very important that you talk to your GP if symptoms last for an unusual amount of time.

Symptoms consist of:

  • Tiredness
  • Night sweats
  • Bruising
  • Headaches
  • Sickness
  • High temperature

How can you help raise awareness?

Let’s all raise awareness together, we want more people to know and understand the severity of blood cancer and begin saving lives.

First steps to raising awareness is talking about blood cancer, due to the lack of knowledge people have of blood cancer they may not always seek medical attention. Let’s get people talking on social media with #TalkAboutBloodCancer and spread the word.

Step two: Help bloodwise.org.uk raise money and fund research desperately needed.

Nursing Personnel at the RCN Bulletin Jobs Fair London 2016

September 9 2016

Nursing Personnel were delighted to be exhibiting at the annual RCN Bulletin Job Fair held in London on 1st and 2nd September 2016. We met some wonderful clinical staff and really enjoyed discussing the benefits of Nursing Personnel to the many dedicated health care support assistants, mental health nurses and general nurses who visited us. It was most definitely a busy two days, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

If you didn’t get the chance to visit our stand, you can find out more about the amazing benefits we have to offer here.
