As a skilled respiratory nurse ideally you will have:
Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience. Respiratory or relevant clinical experience. As appropriate to area of clinical practice demonstrate the ability to complete the agreed training pathway to develop CNS role.
To have experience of working with patient / user / carer groups; or the ability to relate to patient / user / carers. To have skills to communicate learning an interpersonal level and in presentations. A flexible approach to the role, in order to be able to manage working with a national programme, whilst delivering a service in a local setting.
Develop & promote good care management for service & establish links across service boundaries Ensure that the patient/family/carer has a choice about caring and are supported in their decision Provide effective and efficient systems for inter-professional referral, treatment & support and evaluation. To provide domiciliary support to patients with Respiratory Diseases who are at risk of frequent admissions to hospital. To provide advice and ongoing domiciliary support for patients who are discharged from the Respiratory Unit with oxygen therapy.
To provide specialist respiratory advice and information to patients with Respiratory Diseases prior to discharge and within the domiciliary setting. To act as a specialist respiratory advisor to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
The Respiratory role will also require the candidate to be able to:
Eliciting information and making decisions on case management based on complex information i.e. patient symptoms, diagnostic results, and social circumstances. Achieving a balance between the demands of direct patient care within existing resources and job plan. Communicating and supporting distressed/anxious/worried relatives/patients/colleagues. Providing a professional advisory role to a wide variety of contacts i.e. relatives to senior colleagues. Acting as an effective change agent integrating information gained from research and audit into clinical practice.
Nurses must meet the below:
Nurses must be registered with the NMC
Have a minimum of 24 months post qualification experience in an acute hospital setting
Have right to work in the UK
